Why yes, this is discouraging

Dear Kyle,

Thank you for sending us "Aunt Pokie" for consideration in The Masters Review Volume V judged by Amy Hempel. We appreciate your support and your patience while we reviewed your work. We were blown away by the quality and number of submissions we received for this anthology.

While our editors enjoyed reading your piece, I am sorry to say that it was not selected for publication. We received more submissions this year than ever before, and unfortunately that means we have to decline many great stories and essays.

As writers ourselves, our editors know how daunting the process of submitting can be. Please be assured that your submission was read with great care and appreciation. It means a lot to us that you chose to submit to The Masters Review.

Thank you again, and best of luck with this piece. We hope that you will consider submitting to us again in the future.

Warmly,
Kim Winternheimer and The Masters Review team
